This is one of those times where one sits down and think about what he has done and what he can do to make things better. I set out to be an Internet Marketer, I repeat, Internet Marketer. I have been reading and experimenting with many things. One of them is setting up a blog and writing good quality content.

For the past 6 months, around 40 articles was posted into this blog on a food introduction niche in my country. There were existing interest groups which quickly became curious about this blog. Here are my lessons learned:

1. Picking a good domain name which arouses curiousity / has an impression of a certain credibility will likely earn more clicks than not
2. Pick a cute avatar which you know you yourself is likely to click on to view what’s with the guy or gal behind it. My yellow bear avatar is what I mean
3. Monetize your blog instantly with ready adsense / monetized theme will cut your work. Always have a ready to go blog deployment setup
4. Test out your click through rate (CTR)
5. Never stop learning

It has became a MUST to continue to learn things in the area of Internet Marketing everyday. This determines how you will succeed in the shortest time.

With the above test an experiment, I have made USD 5.00 from adsense. But I have gained at least USD 5,000 of lessons learned from these simple experiments.

As an Internet Marketeer, one has to learn the ins and outs of making money on the Internet. The current trend that we have, which everyone is crazy about is earning money through Google Adsense. Today, any five year old can start a blog. Free blogs are available at blogger.com, wordpress.com…etc. However, choosing a good platform (the different of blogging software -ie. WordPress, TypePad, MovableType) gives you an edge other the other. I choose WordPress. Simply because I am not familiar with the others. But primarily it is because I feel comfortable using it. The user experiences is superb.

As I get into Internet Marketing, I am now preparing my blog towards marketing. Marketing what you say ? By placing advertisement on my website, I am marketing something. Whatever is being advertised here will depend on what Google’s contextual advertisement program has decided (Adsense).

I found a blog post at Dosh dosh 16 Adsense ready themes, which I can just go to the WordPress control panel and click to select (after I have uploaded them using my FTP software). I am trying out AdsMinded.

It looks pretty decent. Just click on the Download link and unzip.
Upload the theme and the plugins activate it and we are ready to rock and roll.

The journey to becoming an Internet Marketer is not easy. I have been reading extensive on the subject. Among the places I go about are search engine optimization forums, blogger forums, keyword research websites… you name it.

Let me share a brief something with myself. Before blog came along, there it was Internet Marketer. There were the gathering of Internet Marketer in a land far far away, called Warrior Forum. They share what is precious secrets in the realm of Internet and marketing. They were the people least known, but most believe to be scammers, but they were the people who makes a decent living from just staring at the screen and innovating new ideas to help the Internet move forward. They were the warriors and still are the ones that are on the fore front of Internet’s driving force of ecommerce.

Well, what do I think. Nice piece of dialogue I should consider sending it Lord of the Ring’s editor or something. Anyway the idea of it is that the forum is a very good and resourceful place for Internet Marketer wannabes or noob like me. They go into the details of how to promote and how to earn.

I have also been visiting a cool forum at digitalpoint. From the surface (main page), it doesn’t seems to be much, however the forum is definitely a place to be. The magic and the gatherings are all there. Who pointed me there? Thank you Gobala Krishnan and Alang from Gobala Krishnan’s interview with Alang.
